I am always looking for new ways to decorate in my kitchen. Since the majority of the wall space is covered with cabinets and windows, there really is not room to hang anything on the walls. I have a set of ceramic dishes given to me by my father in law that were hand painted in Bolivia. The colors are bright and beautiful. I have displayed them on top of my kitchen cabinets and they help to lighten the atmosphere in the room. I have three plates for every two cabinets. I bought these holders called wire display stands. They are wire frames that can hold a plate at an angle of about 75 degrees. The plate then rests on the stand and there is usually a lip in the front to keep the plate from sliding off. Since the top of my cabinet door actually extend slightly above the top of the cabinet, the wire frames are completely hidden from view. All I can see from the ground is the plates.

Plates are a lovely piece of art to display if you have them. I am fortunate enough to have the set given to me by my in-laws. If you do not have decorative plates to display, you can look into purchasing some from any number of online retailers. In addition, places like E-Bay or the shopping channel often have collector’s plates available for sale.
